Yen-j

Ok, my first post on music will be about the Taiwanese singer-songwriter Yen-j.

Yen-j is a young Taiwanese newcomer who grew up in the US. He has a background in jazz music and knows how to play numerous instruments: piano, guitar, trombone, bass. He is one of the few newcomers who is really talented musically and artistically. He shows that he is hardworking and very serious about creating a sound that is different from the mainstream Chinese music scene. Until today I am almost sick of the repetitive and dull styles of many Chinese songs, but Yen-j has brought some hope with his jazzy-pop songs.

This is a simple but nice melodic love song from his previous album:

This song, particularly, touched my heart because of the similarity of the situation described in the song and my current situation, stuck in between nowhere, still figuring what I'm going to do next in life.

While this is a newer song. I especially love the hand-drawn animation in the music video.

Opening Ceremony

Ok, I know I already have 5 blogs, some hidden, some abandoned. Well, I'm just crazy, probably.

I have a blog for my stupid, childish stories, a blog for my amateurish artwork, a blog for emo journals, a blog for chinese stories, and lastly a private blog which none of you can access.

Yup, I'm crazy.

But among all those, there is one blog missing. A music blog! LOL.

Like I have a lot of music stuff to blog about. Well actually, I do.

As a music lover, I listen to all kinds of music, from very ancient classical to the oldies to modern pop to chinese traditional to chinese pop. Many many different genres too.

Apart from those, I also have my own compositions, though less than 10 songs...><...but I'll share that to you guys.

Another reason I'm doing this, is to let my music go on, and not just fade away, as I pursue other stuff like my art career. This will push myself a little.

Anyways, it's time I sign out of here. As you know, I'm a very very busy person. So, look forward to my next post! hehe...
